The board of zoning appeals meets Wednesday at 1 p.m. Business includes chairmanship elections and officer appointments, and a presentation on a county code amendment relating to variances and zoning for persons with disabilities. The board meets in the public meeting room in the Chesterfield administration building.

Goochland

Supervisors will hold a public hearing Wednesday at 7 p.m. on a request to amend county code to adjust the boundary line between the Centerville and Shallow Well voting precincts in eastern Goochland. The electoral board and general registrar requested the amendment to adjust the precinct boundary line to better balance the number of voters in each precinct. If approved, the amendment would need to be adopted by Feb. 1.

Richmond

The urban design committee meets Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. Business includes final location, character and extent review of electrical enclosures at 50 N. 17th St., a new middle school at 6300 Hull St., new construction of an elementary school at 1745 Catalina Drive, encroachments associated with Brenner Pass restaurant at 3200 Rockbridge St., trail improvements at 1704 Pump House Drive, Bellemeade Green Street and outdoor dining encroachments at 1548 E. Main St. The board meets in the fifth-floor conference room at City Hall.

The city broke ground on three new public schools: a new George Mason Elementary School, a new E.S.H. Greene Elementary School and a new middle school to replace the existing Elkhardt Thompson Middle School. The schools are expected to be completed and open for students in the 2020 school year.
