Systems and methods for reducing air losses in refrigerated cases
Patent No. 10,203,145
A refrigerated display case includes a frame, a door, and a lateral flow barrier. The frame includes a first mullion and a second mullion. The frame defines a common refrigerated zone. The door is hingedly mounted to the first mullion. The door is configured to selectively interface with the second mullion. The lateral flow barrier is coupled to one of the first mullion and the second mullion. The lateral flow barrier extends into the common refrigerated zone. The lateral flow barrier partially separates the common refrigerated zone into an first sub-compartment proximate the door and bounded by the lateral flow barrier and an second sub-compartment opposite the first sub-compartment. The lateral flow barrier is not thermally insulating.

Label free method for assessing chemical cardiotoxicity
Patent No. 10,203,320
A label-free resonant waveguide grating biosensor imager system for measuring beat patterns and dynamic mass redistribution (DMR) signals of cultured cardiomyocytes in the absence and presence of a drug molecule. The disclosure also provides a method using the imager system for analyzing the beat patterns and the DMR signals of the cardiomyocytes to assess drug-induced cardiotoxicity.

Phosphors and scintillators for light stimulation within a medium
Patent No. 10,232,190
A system and method for light stimulation within a medium. The system has a reduced-voltage x-ray source configured to generate x-rays from a peak applied cathode voltage at or below 105 kVp, and a plurality of energy-emitting particles in the medium which, upon radiation from the x-ray source, radiate at a first lower energy than the x-ray source to interact with at least one photoactivatable agent in the medium. The method introduces the plurality of energy-emitting particles into the medium, radiates the energy-emitting particles in the medium with x-rays generated from a peak applied cathode voltage at or below 105 kVp; and emits a lower energy than the x-ray source to interact with the medium or with at least one photoactivatable agent in the medium.

Solid core electronic cigarette
Patent No. 10,231,487
An electronic cigarette comprises a battery portion that includes a battery which is operable to provide power to a heating element of the electronic cigarette, and a cartomizer coupled with the battery portion. The cartomizer comprises a solid core, and the heating element which vaporizes a portion of a liquefied portion of the solid core to form an aerosol mist that acts as a smoke replacement.

Intravascular arterial to venous anastomosis and tissue welding catheter
Patent No. 10,231,771
A catheter-based device tracks over a guidewire which has been placed from a first blood vessel into a second blood vessel. The distal tip of the catheter is advanced into the second vessel while a proximal member remains in the first vessel. Matching blunt tapered surfaces on each of the distal tip and the proximal member are clamped together, with adjacent walls of each vessel between them, after which a known, controlled pressure is applied between the two surfaces. Heat energy is then applied to the blunt surfaces for approximately 1-30 seconds to weld the walls of the two vessels together. After coaptation of the vessel walls, the heat is increased to then cut through the vessel walls to create a fistula of the desired size.

Solar-powered lantern having collapsible shade structure
Patent No. 10,234,116
A portable and expandable solar-powered lantern that includes a light source, at least one solar panel in electrical communication with a battery to power the light source, and a self-erecting coil structure defining a frame covered by a compliant shade member. The frame includes an inner coil member coiled in a first direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the frame, and an outer coil member coiled in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The coil structure is moveable between a collapsed storage position and an expanded position, the compliant shade member limiting the length of the frame when the coil structure is in the expanded position.
