Ten Brandcenter students created a digital marketing strategy for The One Club for Creativity’s annual diversity conference. The industry nonprofit asked the students to design the digital campaign, which included social media posts, a video manifesto, Instagram filter and Zoom backgrounds. The content was used in the weeks leading up to the conference, called “Where are all the Black people?” and held Sept. 22-24.
The Class of 2021 students on the team included Will Curtis (copywriting track), Nana Dadzie(strategy), Alexandra Daniel (ST), David Ligon (advertising), Danielle Loleng (experience design), Dinma Onyekwere (creative brand management), Angel Song (CBM), Malcolm Richardson (CW), Marshall Turner (XD) and Sheila Villalobos (ST).
Punch redesigned the website for local app-maker Shockoe. The new site includes info highlighting the company’s work, services and other info. The agency collaborated with Left+Right on the site’s development.
Xponent21 picked up Naborforce as a client. Work for the Richmond technology startup includes website enhancement and pay-per-click services for client acquisition and companion recruitment.
Hue & Cry hired Matt Darnall as creative director. He previously was with The Mill in Chicago and has more than 10 years of experience in animation and design for broadcast television, film and entertainment. Recent work includes CG spots he directed for BBDO’s Wholly Guacamole and Dairy Queen accounts.
Big River Advertising created a campaign for Virginia Department of Elections. Work included a website, video and profile stories.
Big Spoon Co. completed a pro bono project redesigning the website for Black Pride RVA. The agency also is building an ongoing marketing strategy for local online startup Shelley’s Gift Shop.
Elevation produced two online videos promoting Smithfield Foods’ Pure Farmland plant-based proteins. The 15- and 30-second clips show diners making meals with the Virginia-based company’s meat alternatives. The “Grow your options. Change your world” videos will appear throughout the year on social media. Assembly Media in Detroit is handling media for the campaign.
Novus Creative completed branding for Put on Your Apron, a cooking class hosted by Chesterfield-based author Shelby Kinnaird. Work included a logo, color palette, style guidelines and patterns. Novus was hired by Longwood Foundation, Longwood University’s scholarships nonprofit, to design its annual report.
Media Lab completed a search engine optimization and content writing project for RVA Baby, a local at-home pediatric service. It designed a new website and provided SEO for Mobile Media, a Richmond-based outdoor advertising company.
Media Lab provided public relations work for Old Mechanicsville Health Spa to raise awareness of the massage practice’s relocation. It also completed a SEO and content marketing project for Carreras Jewelers called 52 Weeks of Engagement Rings, highlighting a different ring throughout 2020.
Addison Clark hired Shelby Maceda as an account manager. Maceda previously worked as a project manager at Planet Central and is a Christopher Newport University graduate. The agency is providing SEO and pay-per-click advertising for American Comfort Solutions, an HVAC company in North Carolina.
The King Agency designed a landing page and donation page for Henrico County Division of Fireto promote its Fill the Boot campaign for raising awareness and research for muscular dystrophy.
Jonas Marketing hired Kimberly Townsend as a website designer. She’s a recent VSU grad. The agency launched new websites for downtown law firm FloranceGordonBrown and regional health network Virginia Physicians Inc. The 150-page Virginia Physicians site includes a set of sub-pages for each office location and an online payments feature.
Siddall Communications was tapped by Philadelphia-based PRG Real Estate to produce a video for Innslake Place, a new apartment building in Innsbrook. Siddall concepted the 90-second video showing a day in the life at the community for various families and worked with Ovrbord to produce it. PRG is using the video on the apartments’ website and in social media.
S2 Creative completed a rebrand for Springer Insurance, formerly The Springer Agency. The name change reflects the Midlothian-based company’s core business and was selected from several options that the agency created. Work also included a new logo, brand and identity specifications, updated letterhead and business cards.
Whittington Consulting was hired by Shenandoah Valley Partnership to build a talent recruitment website.
HeliumStudio launched a new WordPress website for Reliance Partners, a Chattanooga-based insurance agency. SpringStory provided strategic direction and copywriting for the project. Helium also launched a website for Alliance of Students at the Polls, a non-partisan organization started by students at William & Mary Law School.
Lewis Media Partners hired Lisa Matulis as account lead and Chris Fay as channel owner–search. Matulis was previously at The Vision Council in Alexandria and worked 12 years at The Martin Agency. She is a University of Tennessee alum. Fay was previously at Horizon Media in New York and is a Stetson University grad.
WebStrategies is transitioning ownership with CEO Chris Leone taking on a majority stake. Founder Neal Lappe is staying on as CFO and will remain an equity partner.
