For its third location in the region, a national eyeglass retailer has cast its gaze on Hanover County.
Eyemart Express opened a new store at 7378 Bell Creek Road within the Hanover Square shopping center in Mechanicsville on Dec. 21. The 3,580-square-foot store is the company’s fifth in Virginia.
Eyemart sells prescription eyewear, with frames from brands such as Coach, Michael Kors, Nike and Columbia on its shelves.
“We saw a need in Hanover County to provide local residents with access to affordable and convenient prescription glasses for the whole family,” a company spokeswoman said in an email.
Eyemart’s other Virginia stores are located in Henrico County, Chesterfield County, Colonial Heights and Virginia Beach.
The store will employ about a dozen people, sales associates, lab technicians and licensed opticians among them. The store doesn’t have an in-house optometrist.
Founded in 1990, Eyemart operates about 230 stores in 41 states.
