Plaintiff says the three propane tanks outside were turned to the “off” position because of the smell of gas, and Northern instructed him to turn on the tanks and he returned to the kitchen with an employee when Northern attempted to light the pilot light with a stick lighter, resulting in an explosion. Plaintiff says the National Fuel Gas Code required defendants to perform a “leak check” after the interruption of service, which they failed to do, and that defendants’ negligence resulted in his serious burns and permanent injuries. Plaintiff asks judgment of $2 million.
