VCU’s Robertson School held Robertson Rally, an ad strategy-focused workshop that builds off previous collaborations with The One Club. Organized by the VCU Ad Club and funded by The Martin Agency, the three-day boot camp saw students compete in crafting a creative brief for workshop client Busch Beer.
Rally coordinators included VCU’s Jess Collins and Marcel Jennings, Martin senior strategist Alana Gleason and ad club President Mariah Kumpe. Robertson School alums Courtney Foster and Kevin Nguyen presented a session, and other VCU and Brandcenter alums helped mentor and promote the event.
Familiar Creatures released a second TV spot for its campaign for fitness chain Crunch. Spang TVhandled production for the 30-second spot, which was directed by Los Angeles-based director Carlyn Hudson. Familiar Creatures also hired Greg Barengolts as a part-time office manager. Barengolts is an honors advertising student at VCU.
Photographer Cade Martin shot images for a campaign for Toyota. Called “The Wonderful World of Hybrid,” the campaign was produced by Beirut-based Truffle Film, Madrid-based Plugged Production and Munich-based Serviceplan Group.
Addison Clark developed websites for Dominion Radiology Associates and its walk-in imaging center in Richmond. It developed a logo, branding and website for Pembroke Foundation, a local nonprofit college scholarship program. The agency hired Libbie Alexander, a JMU grad, as a junior graphic designer.
JLV Communications led marketing launch strategy and media relations for Strategic Canine Group, a local business providing canine screenings for illicit substances. JLV worked with Ampersand Design Co. on web design and Sunshine and Bo for logo and branding.
Madison+Main promoted Allison Nida from account supervisor to account director. The Christopher Newport University alum has worked at the firm since 2018.
Meredith Mason launched Meredith Mason APR, a freelance PR and marketing business. She was previously PR and marketing director at The Valentine and has worked at the ACLU of Virginia and Madison+Main.
Evergib and Campfire & Co. were hired by Orchard House School, a local middle school for girls, for a brand refresh aligned with its 25th anniversary. Evergib is handling brand strategy, messaging and advertising/video content, while Campfire & Co. is handling logo and visual identity, collateral design and website work.
