Starbucks continues to expand in the western areas of the Richmond region, this time with its first location in Powhatan County.
The chain has a new coffee shop in the works at 2113 Anderson Highway.
The 2,500-square-foot standalone building is new construction that features a drive-thru and covered outdoor seating area. The property is next to an O’Reilly Auto Parts and near Powhatan High School. The Starbucks will open across the street from the Food Lion-anchored South Creek Shopping Center.
The upcoming coffee shop would appear to be the chain’s first location in Powhatan, according to its list of locations on its website.
It comes as Starbucks also has its first store in the works in neighboring Goochland County as part of the upcoming Oak Hill East commercial center to be built to the south of West Creek Business Park. That location is anticipated to open fall 2024.
The Powhatan Starbucks is expected to open “in the next couple months,” Powhatan Economic Development Manager Roxanne Salerno said in an email last week.
Starbucks didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Starbucks has a lease on the building. The parcel is owned by Va Powhatan 60 LLC, which acquired the land for $515,000 in 2021, according to county land records.
Titan Construction Group was tapped to handle construction of the building.
Other recent moves by the Seattle coffee company in the region include the June opening of a new location in a former BB&T bank branch at the River Road Shopping Center in Henrico. There are also plans by Starbucks for yet another Henrico-based outpost at a former Wells Fargo bank branch on Broad Street.

RBS, you keep missing the Starbucks which will open shortly in Bottoms Bridge. It’s okay, it will be our secret, and when everyone is returning from the beach, you’ll miss out on the beverage of your choice. LOL
Starbucks is a watered down rip-off.
Support your local shops!
Can you tell me where I can find a local shop to support out here on the other side of the airport, please?
2700 New Kent Hwy, Quinton, VA 23141- Early Bird Cafe. A lovely mom and pop with a higher customer rating than the local Starbucks.

Starbucks is overpriced and has questionable values. No thanks!
Yes, it is. But they’re still going to have a daily drive-thru line wrapped around the building, because their product is consistent and they have name recognition.
Don’t think their going to get a great fan base out there. People in Powhatan are pretty smart not to pay the outrageous prices.
But they’ll pay tens of thousands of dollars on knobby tires and a lift kit for an $80,000 truck?
