Just months after introducing Bella Ballerina to the Richmond market, the franchise’s local operator is already planning her second act.

Allie Wine is preparing to open the newest location of the children’s dance studio chain at 3411 Cox Road in western Henrico next month. The upcoming studio follows Wine’s first Bella Ballerina, which opened earlier this year near Brandermill in Chesterfield.

Wine said she didn’t initially plan to open a second location so soon after launching the concept locally, but she quickly learned there was demand in western Henrico. She hopes to tap into new customers in that part of town, as well as bring the concept closer to families that live in that area but travel now to Chesterfield for dance classes.

“Some of our most loyal families are driving to us from Short Pump,” Wine said. “I definitely wasn’t planning on doing (a second studio) this quickly. It just fell into place. I started the search for a location and we found the perfect location right away.”

Wine has leased space in the Tower Plaza center at Three Chopt and Cox roads. Enrollment is now open for the Henrico outpost, ahead of an anticipated opening date of Sept. 1, and a grand opening planned for Sept. 8.

Wine said she has 100 kids enrolled at the Chesterfield studio and has the capacity for 300 dancers. She’ll have a similar cap for the Henrico studio.

Bella Ballerina offers dance classes that combine jazz, tap and ballet for children ages 18 months to 10 years old. Classes for children who are 6 and younger feature a story-telling time and themed dress-up activity and dance routines. Classes are capped at eight students per session.

A former financial planner and dance aficionado, Wine has added a hip-hop class for kids 5 to 10 years old at the Chesterfield location that opened at 13924 Hull Street Road in late February. The class also will be offered at the Cox Road location.

The Henrico spot will have a small retail section with dance-class supplies such a tights and shoes.

The once-weekly classes, which run 12-week sessions in the fall, winter and spring and nine-week sessions in the summer, range in price from about $223 to $315, according to  the local franchise’s webpage.

The first Bella Ballerina opened in 2011. The Leesburg-based company’s website lists more than a dozen locations in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Massachusetts.

My 2yo granddaughter absolutely loves her Bella Ballerina class! She’s learning the basic steps for ballet, tap, and jazz in a nurturing environment.

Absolutely fantastic! Wishing Allie all the very best for great success in both locations.

I remember when my daughter was 2 (a lonnnnng time ago! 🙄 ) — and she would have loved attending Bella Ballerina classes. No question, two locations will offer even more kids the opportunity to learn and have fun.

Go get ’em, Allie!! 🙂
