Chick-fil-A has grown its local flock with a new outpost in eastern Henrico.

The fast-food chain opened at 4808 Nine Mile Road on Thursday.

The nearly 5,000-square-foot Chick-fil-A has two drive-thrus and was recently built on part of a property that had been occupied by a car dealership. Next door to the restaurant is a Flagstop Car Wash, which likewise was constructed on land carved out of the dealership property.

The new Chick-fil-A is the brand’s second location in the eastern part of Henrico, following the location at 4443 S. Laburnum Ave. in White Oak Village that opened in 2008. Both restaurants are franchised by Greg Williams.

The new restaurant is open 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and will stay open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Chick-fil-A’s restaurants, which are known for their fried chicken sandwiches, aren’t open on Sunday.

Chick-fil-A’s landlord on Nine Mile Road is local development firm Roka Partners, which controls the LLC that acquired the parcel in a $1.3 million deal in 2022.

Chick-fil-A owns the building on the site. A company spokesman declined to comment on the cost to build and equip the restaurant. Georgia-based general contractor WH Bass handled the project, per a permit filed with Henrico.

The new-construction restaurant was built on what had been the site of Patrick Kia, which closed in October 2018. The car wash next to the Chick-fil-A had formerly been a Green Clean Express Auto Wash until it changed hands and was rebranded to Flagstop last year.

Chick-fil-A’s moves in Henrico follow the company’s 2023 expansion into Goochland with the opening of a restaurant at 12586 Broad Street Road. Last year also saw Chick-fil-A open at Three James Center in downtown Richmond.

Chick-fil-A has more than 25 locations in the Richmond and Petersburg areas, according to a company news release.

Hopefully Harris can finally get the fastfood job experience she has hitherto lied about.

What does the VP have to do with this location? Zero. I also see no reason for someone to lie about working at a fast food restaurant—it was and still is a common job for many high school and college age students.

I’m glad to hear about more redevelopment along Nine Mile Rd.

The good news is they are building a new section of sidewalk along Staples Mill Road.
