Apple Hospitality REIT (APLE)
The hotel-focused real estate investment trust announced earlier this month that it added another hotel to its roster.
The company bought the 157-room Aloft Hotel in Portland, Maine for $51.2 million. The hotel is at 379 Commercial St. on the city’s waterfront. The acquisition brings Apple’s portfolio to 215 hotels that have about 28,100 rooms across 35 states.
Director Kristian M. Gathright sold 10,000 shares at about $15 per share for a total of $150,000. Gathright directly owns 1 million shares of common stock.

Longtime Director W. Tayloe Murphy Jr. died Sept. 15 at the age of 88. His resignation from the board was submitted two days prior. Murphy had served as a director of the company since it was formed in 1993, through the acquisition of Northern Neck State Bank. He had served on that bank’s board since 1966.

The armored car giant recently announced that Timothy J. Tynan has been appointed to its board of directors effective Sept. 20. The addition of Tynan increases the board’s headcount to nine people. Tynan was CEO of Banc of America Merchant Services from May 2014 to February of this year. He has also worked stints at Citigroup and IBM Corp.
Genworth Financial (GNW)
The company completed the spinoff and public listing of its mortgage insurance unit as Enact Holdings. Genworth is the majority shareholder of the new company.
