BES Studios produced the GQ video cover story “Dwayne Johnson: Wrestling with Life & Trying to Disappear.” The 30-minute interview was filmed at Johnson’s Virginia home. Creative and post was provided by the magazine.

BES was hired by California agency Innocean USA for a social media campaign for Hyundai USA. The 30-second spot was produced by BES, which constructed a 30-foot 4K video wall as a backdrop. BES’s Richard Bailey directed the clip, which was filmed by BES’s Douglas Bischoff.

Padilla hired Ryan Smartt as vice president of financial services. Smartt is based in Richmond and will lead Padilla’s financial services practice from its Manchester office. He previously worked in communications at DuPont, Capital One and Genworth.

Addison Clark produced a video and website article for First National Bank Small Business Finance. The three-minute video highlights the bank’s work helping a small business owner acquire grocery wholesale distributor Virginia Heritage Foods.

JLV Communications was hired by Hopewell Downtown Partnership to promote Made In Hopewell, an event highlighting manufacturing in Hopewell. The agency handled media relations, editorial content, event planning, sponsor relations and social media for the event, which was held on National Manufacturing Day.

SkillsUSA MA annual report

JLV was hired by Sussex County for brand identity work for an economic development megasite. The agency held a branding workshop and developed a new name, logo suite and style guide for the site, called Sussex Green Enterprise Park. JLV redesigned the website and completed an annual report for workforce development group SkillsUSA Massachusetts.

JLV picked up Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Foundation and Bank of Southside Virginia as clients. Work for each will include strategic communications.

VCU Brandcenter worked with students in University of Richmond’s Bench Top Innovations marketing course who competed in this year’s Bench Top Innovations Great Bake Off. This year’s cohort spent the fall semester experimenting with recipes for salad dressings. The winning Envee team is working to bring its pesto-Caesar dressing to market early next year, UR reports.
