September was busy “Month of Service” for Mondial Assistance associates

Richmond, Va., Oct. 5, 2010 — For scores of Mondial Assistance associates, the word “assistance” was the operative word for the month of September. More than 150 employees of the Henrico-based specialty insurance provider participated in a range of volunteer activities for its just-concluded “Month of Service.”

In keeping with the company’s commitment to give back to the communities where it does business, Mondial Assistance associates helped to collect and package food for Stop Hunger, an international food bank; stuffed carebags for Freedom House, a homeless shelter; and stuffed bags for Mended Little Hearts, a support program for parents of children with heart defects or heart disease.

Associates also prepared dinners for the families of seriously ill children at the Ronald McDonald House as well as assisted with home maintenance for the elderly and disabled through ElderHomes’ Renew Crew. Employees also served as volunteers at the Woman and Wheels fundraiser for Freedom House.

“We take seriously our obligation to be a responsible corporate citizen,” said Jon Ansell, president and CEO of Mondial Assistance. “We are fortunate to be a part of the Richmond Region and look for opportunities to give back to a community that offers so much to us. I am particularly proud of our many associates who give of their time to help those in need, and it is that spirit of care by which we live and work at Mondial.”

Volunteerism at Mondial Assistance is a year-round endeavor. Earlier this year, associates have held food drives for the Food Bank, provided backpacks and school supplies for ChildSavers and contributed to the American Heart Association’s Heart Ball.

The company’s volunteer activities are coordinated through its Corporate Social Responsibility team, which consists of 25 associates from throughout the company.
