Couscous and tagines have finally arrived in the West End.
David Gil and his wife, Majdouline, have launched Riad Moroccan Grill, a restaurant and bakery more than a year in the making at 8902 W. Broad St.
After leasing the space back in 2011, the restaurant officially opened Feb. 1.
Gil said he plans to add a hookah bar to the 13,000-square-foot space.
“We’re focusing on the restaurant first,” Gil said. “My wife is from Morocco, so we’re trying to bring some of those home-cooked flavors into the food here.”
Gil, who has been in the restaurant industry since 1985, moved to Richmond from Virginia Beach to launch the restaurant.

13,000sq ft? Good luck with that.
