The Richmond PAL – the oldest police athletic league in Virginia – hasn’t held any programming in 2024 amid an RPD reevaluation and discussions of potentially merging it with another nonprofit.
The 8,900-square-foot learning hub also includes a River Health Meter on the front of the building, which flashes green if the river is safe, yellow if visitors should avoid direct contact with the water and red if it’s unsafe.
“I thought if it doesn’t work out business-wise, I’ll spray tan my mom and my sister and my friends for our big events and that’ll be it,” Lee said.

Starting with a makeshift aquarium in a kiddie pool when he was a child, Kole Elkin now runs Kole Tang Aquatics providing commercial and residential aquarium services and fish care advice.
“With the aging of the population, our services are needed everywhere,” said founder Paige Wilson. “And our goal is to be nationwide.”
