Three and a half years ago Jorge Haddock became the dean of the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond, but he won’t be there much longer.
Haddock accepted an offer earlier this month from George Mason University in Fairfax to become the new dean of their School of Management. The GMU board of visitors is in the final approval process of his appointment, which will be effective in July. Haddock will continue as dean at UR for the time being.
In an interview with The Collegian, Haddock said he struggled with the decision but ultimately accepted the new job because of the challenges involved and the opportunity to grow and expand the program at GMU.
Under Haddock’s tenure, the business school climbed to number 20 on BusinessWeek’s list of the top undergraduate business programs in the country, and the school’s MBA program ranked 14th. Haddock was also successful raising funds to build an addition to the school slated for this spring.
