In a cost cutting measure, baristas will be asked to wash their own aprons. Before, Starbucks used a subcontractor to launder the aprons. Before the change, Starbucks employees on the East Coast were the only ones who didn’t have to wash their own aprons.
Starbucks has been hit hard by the recession and has seen falling sales as people cut back on luxury items such as $4 lattes. The company did not return calls.
