Dominion, a Richmond-based energy company and parent of Dominion Virginia Power, has laid off about 24 workers, including at least a few in Richmond. The company wouldn’t say where those layoffs were, or in what departments, only that the layoffs were not in departments that deal with safety or reliability.
In May, the company offered buyouts, which 1,400 employees accepted. The company had anticipated that 1,000 would take those buyouts, said Ryan Frazier, a company spokesman. (You can read more about the buyouts in a Times-Dispatch story here.)
In late March, Dominion laid off 50 to 75 workers at its Millstone nuclear power plant in Connecticut.
The company has about 17,000 employees and provides power in 12 states, according to its website.
