Short Pump is bustling with several new local shops and restaurants.
Two new restaurants are in store for the Shoppes at Innsbrook at Cox and Broad. Joey’s Hot Dogs, who currently operate a location on Ridgefield Parkway, is in the process of building out their restaurant. Joey’s menu is short and to the point– hot dogs and chili dogs are all you’ll find.
A few doors down, Rascals Pizza has taken over the former Sushi-Go-Around restaurant. This local pizzeria started on the other side of the James in Chester, on Bundle Road near Pocahontas State Park. In addition to hand-tossed pizza, Rascals serves toasted subs, calzones, salads, wings and other similar fare.
In the Downtown Short Pump shopping center, you’ll find another local pizzeria. Two Guys Pizza, located next to Regal Cinemas, has taken the place of the former Taste of the Grapevine Italian eatery. Two Guys serves pizza, subs and sandwiches.
The Towne Center West development, next to Short Pump Town Center, will soon be home to a HoneyBaked Ham store. While a chain, the franchise will be locally-owned by Short Pump resident David Crawford. In addition to sliced-to-order deli meats, the store will offer boxed lunches and delivered catering. The location is slated to open in February 2011 near the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa and will feature an outdoor patio.
At West Broad Village, The French Boutique, a new gift shop, home accents and clothing store owned by entrepreneur Kim French, will soon open beneath the Aloft Richmond West Hotel.
Local sports specialty store 3Sports has also signed a lease nearby in the same development and will be leaving their current location in the Shoppes at Westgate at Broad and Lauderdale.

Another sub and sandwich place is needed about as much as another fast food chain restaurant.
Current economic conditions in concert with an unbalanced ratio of available space to retailers have forced many projects to adjust rental rates downward from historically typical “Short Pump” rents. This temporary window of opportunity has enabled many locals to enter this quadrant that they previously either couldn’t afford or justify the overhead for their operations. On a couple of minor notes, the Short Pump trade area is generally considered by the retail community to be west of the interchange underpass. While Innsbrook is a viable & thriving project, it’s not recognized as a segment of Short Pump by the retailers… Read more »
Happy to see all the growth in the Innsbrook/Short Pump area!! Considering I grew up with the precursor to Joey’s, Tony’s of Norfolk/Va. Beach, I can attest that they are the best dogs in town!!
Good for them, this area of Richmond needs more independent local businesses. The overabundance of chain stores/restaurants is garish and tasteless. Not to mention they will all be gone with the snap of a finger once a new en vogue suburb appears, see: Midlothian Turnpike.
