Big box closing on West Broad

ajwright1The fate of this big box retail space on West Broad  is unknown after the parent company of A.J. Wright said it is eliminating the chain nationwide.

The parent company, Massachusetts-based TJX, is closing most of the stores permanently and converting others into its other brands, T.J. Maxx or Marshalls.

In addition to the A.J. Wright location at Merchants Walk Shopping Center on West Broad and Wistar Road, there is another store on Meadowdale Boulevard.

TJX also owns HomeGoods stores.

It’s a loss to have another empty space on Broad Street. For anyone who’s ever shopped at this store, it’s not much of a loss in the world of retail. The company decidedly invested little money into creating a clean and neat shopping environment. It was just a big mess. This is no surprise.
