Perhaps there are only so many ways to advertise a bank.
A recent commercial for Ally Bank was eerily similar to the ones that were airing for Union First Market Bank during its post-merger rebranding campaign. Ally is the new name for what used to be called GMAC.
Both campaigns are going with the “Love your bank” theme.
Below are both ads, the Ally one first. Feel free to weigh in on the comments section which ad you think is more effective. And I’d be interested to know if this ad campaign hits it mark with retail customers, or if it’s a little over the top.

Actually, neither ad would cause me to bank with Ally or Union First Market. I think both are kind of creepy.
FWIW, I do bank with Union First Market but that would be in spite of their ad campaign, not because of it.
Why is this a topic? Must be a slow news day. For the most part banks are predatory lenders which charge fees at the first opportunity. I do not begrudge their need to make-a-profit for their services, only their false attitude in doing so.
