Five local architectural and engineering design firms were ranked among the 500 largest in their industry according to a report released this week by the Engineering News Record.
The publication’s 2011 Top 500 Design Firms in the U.S ranks the largest architectural, design and civil engineering firms based on design-specific revenue.
The rankings are based on revenue in millions for design services performed in 2010.
Among the 500 were Richmond’s Moseley Architects, Hankins and Anderson Architects and Engineers, the Timmons Group, Froehling and Robertson, and Schnabel Engineering.
Glen Allen-based geo-technical engineering firm Schnabel Engineering was No. 190 on the list, bringing in $51.4 million in 2010.
Design firm Moseley Architects were No. 290 with $33.8 million in revenue.
Engineering firm Froehling and Robertson followed close behind at 292 with $33.6 million
H&A, an architecture and engineering firm, was No. 305 with $32.3 million in revenue. Timmons Group, an engineering and technology firm, was No. 350 on the list, bringing in $27.9 million for the year.
As a group, the overall design revenue for the Top 500 firms in 2010 was $79.8 billion.
