A Richmond-based corporate housing start-up has found a second home.
Corporate Living Solutions, a company that offers temporary furnished housing to corporate and military clients and other business travelers, has expanded with a small office in Hampton Roads.
Founded a year ago, the company serves most of its clients in the Virginia, Maryland and D.C. area from its Richmond office on Hermitage Road.
Steve Clary, Corporate Living’s president, said the company does business in the Hampton Roads market and had been looking to set up operations there.
“We had worked in that area before, so we were familiar with the market,” Clary said. “The business in Hampton Roads we’re hoping to capture is from the military and government contractors.”
Clary said the company’s business has grown 60 percent since it was launched in June 2010. The military sector accounts for about 60 percent of its business. The rest is made up of corporate clients including locals such CarMax, Phillip Morris and Luck Stone.
“The majority of our business is in Fort Lee, the military, government and corporate,” Clary said.
The company also places entertainers who are on tour and works with FEMA and the Red Cross to house people who have lost their homes.
Corporate Living Solutions has about 160 one- to three-bedroom apartments in Richmond and Hampton Roads that it uses as its temporary housing, Clary said.
The apartments come fully furnished with house wares, a television, cable, a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and are typically cheaper than a hotel stay.
He said the apartments they place people in across Richmond usually run from $75 to $85 a night for a one-bedroom.
It takes 24 to 48 hours to get someone into an apartment, and they can be there from 30 days to a couple months, Clary said.
It typically places eight to 10 people in apartments per week.
“This is our high season,” Clary said.
The company has 10 employees in Richmond and has hired one to work in Hampton Roads. Two or three more might be added there.
And Clary’s growth plan may not might stop there.
“We’re looking to open an office in Northern Virginia,” he said.
