Chesterfield Towne Center is updating the old and bringing in the new.
A few new retailers are coming to the shopping center on Midlothian Turnpike and Huguenot Road later this year.
Rue21, a women and men’s apparel and accessories retailer has leased a 7,000 square foot space inside the mall and is slated to open in late August.
The Pennsylvania-based chain operates over 690 stores in 46 states. The retailer has one store at Southpark Mall in Colonial Heights, but this will be the first store for the area. It will fill space left by the Armed Services recruiting store in the mall.
Denise Hatton, marketing manager for Chesterfield Towne Center said the store will resemble the fashion retailer Forever 21.
“The concept is similar, it’s geared toward a younger demographic,” Hatton said.
Hatton added they’ve been in talks with the company to come to Chesterfield for some time.
SalonPlaza is also coming to the mall and will open on the outside near the Midlothian Turnpike entrance. The salon leases private salon studios for barbers and hairstylists to run their own business. SalonPlaza has four locations in Virginia with two already in Richmond in Pocono Crossing on Midlothian Turnpike and Fountain Square on West Broad Street. The salon leased about 4,000 square feet and is expected to open in August.
These aren’t the only recent additions to the mall. The first local T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods combination store opened at Chesterfield Towne Center in late May.
In addition to the new stores arriving, a few existing tenants are getting a facelift.
American Eagle Outfitters has undergone a complete remodel and re-opened today. During construction the retailer was operating in a space near Foot Locker.
Old Navy is also updating its store and will remain open while construction is underway. The work is expected to be completed in August.
“Old Navy is changing to a new format, it’s a new look and new layout that they are making to to their stores across the country,” Hatton said.
