McAlister's Deli heading to Short Pump

McCallisters11The owner of four McAlister’s Deli franchises is expanding to Short Pump.

Glenn Miller plans to open his fifth McAlister’s restaurant Monday at 11530 W. Broad St. near Short Pump Town Center.

The store is 5,000 square feet and will seat 150 people. Miller has been looking to add a location in the Short Pump area since last year.

“Short Pump has become one of the most important areas of development in the greater Richmond area over the past 10 years,” Miller said. “The mall is one of the most successful in the nation, and we believe the guest will welcome McAlister’s back to the area.”

The new location will have a different design from the other stores and will have digital marketing boards and a new menu board layout.

Miller owns four other McAlister’s in Virginia, including a restaurant in Chesterfield that opened in August 2009, one in Waynesboro and one in Harrisonburg.

Last fall, Miller opened a McAlister’s in the Gayton Crossings shopping center on Gaskins Road.

In November, Miller told BizSense that Hull Street and Charlottesville locations are also on the way.

McAlisters was in Short Pump before and pulled out. Wonder if they can make it stick this time. They also had to close the location that used to be in Belgrade on Huguenot. Good luck to them!

I took my family to the one he opened up where the Blockbuster’s used to be there at Gayton Crossings. Our experience was not good! The food was less than average and the service was absolutely terrible. Also, the menu is too scattered to even figure out what to order and the staff is really not sure about it either. We will not… Read more »

You say his restaurant is terrible and you won’t ever return, yet you wish him the best? That’s quite bizarre.

The food is truly horrible at the one in Westchester Commons…

I had a voucher for 10 dollars to spend… and ordered a sandwhich / mac and cheese…

I have no idea how this place can stay in business, unless the masses like to eat cardboard…

How do you ruin a turkey sandwhich and Mac and cheese???

Cheap ingredients is how… awful

my son and I laughed it was so lousy
