The holding company of Central Virginia Bank reported a net loss available to common shareholders of $67,000 for the second quarter, an improvement from the $1.26 million loss in the second quarter last year. The $67,000 loss comes after accounting for unpaid dividends on preferred stock it owes to the U.S. Treasury Dept. for its participation in the TARP Capital Purchase Program. CVB turned a $30,000 profit through the first half of the year, compared with a $1.3 million loss during the first six months of last year. Its non-performing assets were at $42.08 million as of June 30, up about $9.5 million from a year ago. It also restructured $6.1 million in loans during the second quarter. CVB’s total assets fell to $402.59 million from $448.73 million compared with a year ago. Its deposits fell by $30 million. It loan portfolio was down by $40 million.

President and CEO Thomas Farrell acquired 5,000 shares for $46.99 per share, or a total of $232,875. Farrell owns more than 871,000 shares of Dominion stock.
