A few weeks ago, BizSense spotted the Google Car cruising around Richmond. This week, the CoStar Car was seen in town.
The vehicle is part of a fleet of 100 Toyota Prius that the commercial real estate listing and information firm uses as field research vehicles. They are packed with gadgets that help CoStar compile images of commercial real estate all over the country.
CoStar launched the fleet in 2006 to help it expand its data collection efforts into more than 250 metropolitan areas.
In July, CoStar announced a pending merger with its main rival, LoopNet. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
