ntsA Chesterfield County IT firm is moving fast on the expansion track.

Networking Technologies and Support Inc., a company that provides computer maintenance and other technology services, has added more than 50 workers and has no plans to slow down.

The firm launched in 1997 and expanded its office three times since 2003 before settling in its digs in Midlothian.

Bernard Robinson, president and chief executive, said the firm’s increased work in the health-care sector fueled the expansion.

“The health-care industry is growing exponentially,” Robinson said. “That allows us to take steps forward with our technology.”

NTS provides web development and desktop and laptop maintenance, as well as delivering and installing computer equipment for companies.

Since November 2010, the firm has hired 67 employees. In July, the firm announced it expects to add 140 jobs over the next three years, investing $1.5 million to expand its headquarters. The company is up to 143 employees.

NTS also has offices in Maryland and Hampton Roads.

The firm has more than 100 clients, with the bulk of them in health care. Some of the company’s other clients include Spotsvlvania County, Hunton & Williams, Bruce’s Super Body Shops, and Richmond public schools.

Robinson said that NTS thrived during the econonic downtown and that 2009 and 2010 were the company’s best years, bringing in $16.4 million in revenue last year.

NTS started out with a 3,000-square-foot space on Research Road in Chesterfield County.

“We were supposed to be there for three years but stayed for 18 months,” he said.

In 2003, the firm moved into a 10,000-square-foot building in the Research Park area and signed a five-year lease but moved out three years later.

In May 2006, NTS moved to its current 15,000-square-foot building on Justice Road.

Robinson said NTS is in the process of completing a new network operations center for its cloud services.

He said that the firm started work on the center a couple of months ago and that it will be up and runing at the Justice Road location by the end of the year.

Along with the new center, Robinson said the firm expects to hire 30 to 40 more full-time employees by summer.
