Thermally insulated foldable cup for hot or cold beverages
Patent 8,333,296
A thermally insulated foldable cup for hot or cold beverages including a flexible inner liner, an outer shell, and an insulating layer between the outer shell and inner liner. The foldable cup includes reinforcing rings at the bottom and top of the cup and two vertical reinforcing strips on opposing sides of the cup. The foldable cup can be folded from an expanded configuration, in which liquids can be poured into and held in the cup, to a folded configuration in which two sides of the cup can be folded about a vertical plane through the cup in order to reduce the size of the cup while it is not in use. The foldable cup further includes a base member and a cap member connected by a anchor strip. A locking strap extending from the base member can be used to maintain the folded cup in the folded configuration.

Inline vaporizer
Patent 8,327,845
An inline vaporizer disposed in a carrier gas line vaporizes a fluid and adds such vaporized fluid to a carrier gas that flows within the carrier gas line. The vaporizer includes a reservoir or wick that transfers a fluid to a vaporizing element that is adjacent to the reservoir or wick. The vaporizer releases a vapor into the carrier gas line so that the carrier gas flows past the vaporizer to form a vapor and carrier gas mixture.

Rapid release and anti-drip porous reservoirs
Patent 8,334,034
A fluid reservoir for retaining a particular fluid against an environmental force is disclosed. The fluid reservoir includes a three dimensional porous body that has a plurality of reservoir capillaries formed therein and has a transport volume and effective capillarity in the force direction for the particular fluid when the porous body is oriented in a predetermined orientation. The fluid reservoir also includes at least one lateral indentation in a surface of the porous body. Each of the at least one lateral indentation defines opposing reservoir surfaces each having a lateral surface component orthogonal to the force direction. The at least one lateral indentation is configured so that at least a majority of the reservoir capillaries have a force-aligned length component that is less than the effective capillarity for the particular fluid.

Method for the growth of SiC, by chemical vapor deposition, using precursors in modified cold-wall reactor
Patent 8,329,252
A method is described for the growth of high-quality epitaxial silicon carbide (SiC) films and boules, using the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technique, which comprises the steps of supplying original species SiH4 and CCl4 into a growth chamber, decomposing at elevated temperatures, producing decomposition product SiH2, SiH, Si, CCl3, or CCl2, producing interaction product HCl, CH3Cl, CH4, or SiH2Cl2, etching by one of the byproducts HCl to suppress Si nucleation, providing main species SiCl2 and CH4 at a cooled insert located on sides of a substrate holder and at a shower-head located on top of the substrate holder, in the growth chamber, with proper Si to C atom ratio and Si to Cl atom ratio, to suppress parasitic deposits, and depositing SiC on a substrate at a proper growth substrate temperature (1500 to 1800 centigrade range).

Method and apparatus to provide failover capability of cached secure sessions
Patent 8,332,625
A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing failover capability of cached secure sessions is presented. A cached secure session involving a first device and a second device is identified. The cached secure session is encrypted and replicated to a failover device. The encrypted session is then decrypted on the failover to device. An occurrence of a hot failover involving the second device is detected, and processing resumes between the first device and the failover device.
