A Texas sandwich chain has opened another location in Richmond.

A new Which Wich franchise opened its doors last week in Willow Lawn, a few doors down from Kroger.

The store at 1601 Willow Lawn Dr. is the Dallas-based chain’s second location in Richmond and third in Virginia.

The other local store opened in West Broad Village in April. The two locations are run by different franchise owners.

Which Wich was founded in Dallas in 2003 and began selling franchises in 2005. It now has more than 130 stores in 20 states. Its other Virginia store is in Charlottesville, and another is set to open in Arlington.

In attempt to differentiate itself from the Subways and Jimmy John’s of the sandwich scene, Which Wich touts its ordering system in which customers use a red Sharpie to mark their order on sandwich bags.

According to the company’s website, franchisees must have a net worth of at least $500,000 and liquid assets of $150,000 to be considered for franchises.

The initial investment for a Which Wich franchise runs from $184,875 to $422,250, including a $30,000 franchise fee for the first store.

Franchisees pay royalties of 6 percent of their gross revenue and up to 4 percent of gross revenue into an advertising fund.

Another welcome addition to the local franchise community. Have not yet been to the new location yet, but have had several great lunches at the West Broad Village location. Wishing much success to both franchisees.
