Richmond is about to get a sugar rush.
Ian Kelley and Casey Ward are converting a used car lot at Leigh and Lombardy streets into Sugar Shack Donuts. The shop will sell a variety of doughnuts, pastries, cheesecakes and coffee, according to its Facebook page, which promises Cinnamon Toast Crunch cheesecake and Guinness bagels.
No opening date has been set, but construction is going on in the 1,200-square-foot space at 1001 N. Lombardy St.
As reported by Greater Jackson Ward News, Kelley conceptualized the shop after visiting Portland, Ore.-based Voodoo Doughnut.

Can’t wait for this place to open. And you couldn’t find a nicer guy that Ian.
Sounds great, can’t wait for this.
That corner has been a dump for decades. I hope these folks can revitalize it. Best of luck to them.
If it is anything like Voodoo Donut (no s), then it will be a big success. I hope it works out.
Guinness bagels? I’m there.
You go, Ian!
Please let us know when this opens!
Congrats, Ian. Wish I could be there for the grand opening!!
