Editor’s note: This is the first installment of a monthly series on the highest-priced home sales in the Richmond area.
Local real estate agent Debbie Johnson’s latest deal hit close to home.
A Realtor with Joyner Fine Properties, Johnson closed the highest priced residential sale in the Richmond region in November. The transaction was bittersweet, however, because the property she sold was her own.
“It’s a mixed emotion,” she said.
Johnson and her husband, Michael, decided to downsize and sell their 6,000-square-foot house at 9608 Cragmont Drive in Henrico County. The $1.14 million sale closed Nov. 1, according to the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service, making it the highest price fetched in the region for the month for residential properties. The original listing price was $1.24 million, and the house went on the market in May.
The two-story house sits on a 1.6-acre lot just south of River Road, according to its listing. It has five bedrooms, three full bathrooms and two half bathrooms. The Johnsons lived in the Georgian-style home for four years.
Johnson said that what she loved most about the house was how conducive the floor plan was to entertaining. She also loved the private dressing area in the master suite and the backyard patio.
The home last sold in 2007 for $1.29 million. The property was most recently assessed at $1.11 million.
