Slowed by a harsh winter and a rainy spring, one of Richmond’s largest homebuilders is ready to get moving on a new Henrico County development.
HHHunt is kicking off sales this week for the Townes at Woodman, a townhouse development off Woodman Road, near Mountain Road. Work on the first building is expected to commence by July.
Eighty-two townhouses are planned for the Townes. The homes will be adjacent to HHHunt’s Woodman Glen development, a single-family detached neighborhood started last year. The combined projects will cost about $6 million and are spread across a 50-acre parcel.
HHHunt General Manager Patrick McCarthy said the company had hoped to start building the townhouses last year but Mother Nature had other plans.
“What really killed us in the last six months was the weather,” he said. “It put us back four months.”
Homes at the Townes at Woodman will range in size from 1,365 to 1,597 square feet. Prices start at $186,950.
McCarthy said HHHunt will market the townhouses to young professionals, small families and empty nesters.
“People are looking for affordable living but they want to be in the new Glen Allen High School (district), which we are,” he said. “It’s located near the Interstate 295. You have Innsbrook very close. It’s 10 minutes away from Short Pump.”
HHHunt has had previous success in that part of town. Woodman Glen opened in August, and 34 of its 49 home sites have already been snatched up, McCarthy said. HHHunt has temporarily halted sales to catch up with building at the site. Fourteen houses have been constructed so far, and another 20 are in the works.
Houses at Woodman Glen range from 1,852 to 3,138 square feet in size and from $253,950 to $305,950 in price.
HHHunt has several other townhouse developments in the works, including one at Rocketts Landing.
