The company is offering $1 billion in debt notes. They’ll mature on January 14, 2020. Interest on the notes is payable semiannually on January 14 and July 14 of each year, beginning July 14, 2015. The notes will bear interest from November 14, 2014 at the rate of 2.625% per annum. Altria said it will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes.

Apple REIT Ten
The hotel REIT redeemed its previous $100 million investment in a natural gas prospecting operation called Cripple Creek Energy. Apple REIT said it plans to use the proceeds to repay outstanding debt, pay distributions to shareholders and for other purposes.

Markel (MKL)
Stuart Kasen, a director, sold 1,000 shares at $695.50 each for a total of $695,000.

Vice Chairman Steven Markel sold 4,300 shares at $696.39 per share for a total sale of $2.99 million.

Richard Whitt, president and co-COO, sold 200 shares at $702.31 each for a total of $140,000.

NewMarket (NEU)
Robert Shama, president of the company’s Afton Chemical subsidiary, sold 601 shares at $386.10 for a total of $232,000.
