Some of the latest ideas in home building and design are featured at this year’s Richmond Homearama, which kicked off last week at Chesterfield’s RounTrey community with a VIP preview party and awards ceremony.
Nine homes make up this year’s showcase, each built by a different local builder and decked out by a different designer. The three-weekend event is viewable Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continues through May 17.
The annual event is put on by the Home Building Association of Richmond. Craig Toalson, CEO of group, said six of the nine homes had sold as of Thursday.
“All of them are truly show homes,” Toalson said. “The goal of the show is to show the public what the building industry is doing to constantly change year to year and adapt to the market, with different building trends and different building techniques, and also to provide an entertainment festival that the whole family can enjoy.”
Each weekend of Homearama features a different theme and includes live music and food trucks. Attendees are invited to vote for their favorite home for the People’s Choice Award.
Other awards were presented to builders in seven categories. First-place awards went to TimberCreek Building & Design for best curb appeal, kitchen and outdoor living; River City Custom Homes for best master suite; and Harring Construction for best interior merchandising, floor plan and creative home.
Rounding out this year’s competitors are Biringer Builders, CraftMaster Homes, LifeStyle Home Builders, Perkinson Homes, Ray A. Williams Construction and Southern Traditions.
