A West Broad Street restaurant has closed after just under a year in business.

Nora Taste of Lebanon at 8900 W. Broad St. in the Gold’s Gym Plaza closed Aug. 10. The closure was announced by SugarOak, the Herndon-based landlord for the property.

The Lebanese restaurant opened in August 2014, replacing Riad Moroccan Grill in the 7,700-square-foot space. It was the second Nora location for owner Walid Boustany, who opened the first in Gainesville, Virginia. Boustany could not be reached for comment about the closure.

A SugarOak representative said the company is looking for another restaurant tenant to take on Nora’s space. The company said it is move-in ready, as it will retain all equipment and trade fixtures from the previous tenant. NAI Eagle is handling leasing on the space.

The Gold’s Gym Plaza’s other tenants include House of Noodle, Korean restaurant Gogi Bibimbap and Country Style Donuts.

Lebanese cuisine is my favorite but this is the third such attempt to penetrate the Richmond market since I’ve been here 20 years. In each case the food was superb but suffered from a marginal location. I wonder if the next attempt might try The Fan, Shockoe, Scotts Addition, The Museum or Manchester. Bring it to the City!
