Local brewers and state officials on Tuesday dedicated Stone Brewing’s newest Richmond beer.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe, along with First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe and State Secretary of Agriculture Todd Haymore, took a tour of Stone’s sprawling facility East End brewing facility.
Toward the end of the tour, Gov. McAuliffe mixed in the hops and malt to help create Stone’s next brew: “Give Me Stout or Give Me Death” – a reference to Patrick Henry’s historic speech at Richmond’s St. John’s Church in March 1775.
The beer is packed with state-grown raspberries and blackberries, and the company plans for the brew to hit the shelves of Richmond-area beer aisles by September.
Crews from Richmond-based breweries Ardent and Hardywood were also present during the event.
Stone opened its 220,000-square-foot facility in Fulton Hill earlier this year as its first East Coast base of brewing operations.
