A Henrico-based national IT management consulting firm is expanding its reach to the Mile-High City.
CapTech announced Monday it is opening its 11th office in Denver, adding to locations primarily along the East Coast and in Chicago and San Francisco. The move is the firm’s third expansion in a year, having most recently opened offices in Atlanta and Columbus, Ohio.
The firm plans to hire 50 employees over two years for its Denver office, which currently totals 15. The firm’s workforce totals 700 among its 11 offices, including about 300 at its Henrico headquarters at 7100 Forest Ave.
CEO Kevin McQueen said the Denver move is different from the company’s other office expansions, which he said are typically driven by clients in those markets.
“In this case, we sought out Denver before we had a client there,” McQueen said.
“We really wanted to have another delivery center in the Mountain Time Zone to support clients both central and West Coast,” he said. “We saw Denver as an attractive location, a lot of talent wants to move there, it’s a very up-and-coming area, and it also allows us to service our clients on the West Coast more easily. It’s a great hub.”
CapTech designs and develops websites, apps and other digital platforms for a variety of clients. Services also include strategy and marketing.
McQueen said client confidentiality agreements prevented him from identifying businesses CapTech works with, though he did name Navy Federal Credit Union as a client. He described CapTech’s client base as including more than 30 Fortune 500 companies in industries such as financial services, healthcare, retail, utilities, hospitality, entertainment and consumer products. The company also provides work for state and local governments.
CapTech has tapped Denver local Greg Kintzele to lead its office there. The office is located at 1444 Wazee St. in Denver.
CapTech was acquired in 2015 by Markel Ventures, a subsidiary of Richmond insurance giant Markel Corp. Markel Ventures maintains a majority stake in the company.
Founded in 1997, CapTech has experienced considerable growth since, making the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing U.S. companies multiple years. Between 2011 and 2012, the firm reported an annual revenue increase of nearly $20 million to $69.1 million. McQueen said CapTech currently pulls in more than $100 million in annual revenue.
