The disco ball at a longtime local skating rink spins no more.

Skateland of Richmond, a roller rink that has operated for decades on Hull Street Road, closed in February, and its building was sold last week for $800,000.

The 22,000-square-foot building sits on 2.5 acres at 5512 Hull Street Road. It was built in 1964 and most recently assessed by the city at $397,000.

The buyer, according to city records, was Jong P. Lim, who is listed as the owner of the neighboring Ruby Red Beauty Supplies property. Lim could not be reached for comment.

The previous owner was Skateland Properties South Inc., which listed Bonnie and Norman Carnell listed as its proprietors. The Carnells also own Atlantis Skateway, a roller rink in Palm Beach County, Florida.

The Carnells could not be reached for comment.
