A new personal training facility is looking to add more muscle to Richmond’s hottest neighborhood.
Joel Foreman has opened Sculpt, a personal training facility at 1600-H Roseneath Road in Scott’s Addition. The 1,000-square-foot gym hosted an open house last week after opening in June.
Foreman said the facility has been in the works since he became certified as a personal trainer 11 years ago. He estimates he has pumped about $10,000 of personal capital into the venture.
The Isle of Wight County native played basketball at Virginia State University and football at Christopher Newport University before securing a job with Dominion Power at its Surry Nuclear Plant in 2004. He said he juggled that job, which he has since left, with growing his clientele as a personal trainer.
Sculpt provides services that include nutritional coaching, athletic training and functional training, such as daily exercise routines and light weightlifting. It also offers small group exercise classes and custom personal training.
“I really want to see people succeed and achieve their fitness goals,” Foreman said. “I designed this business to be very custom to the needs of the client.”
Foreman said establishing Sculpt in Scott’s Addition was strategic given the booming neighborhood’s continued growth.
“When you see the level of growth occurring in the area, it made sense to establish Sculpt here,” Foreman said. “I’m excited to be here, and I look forward to growing with the neighborhood.”
While Foreman is focused on the Scott’s Addition fitness market, his wife, Natasha, is establishing Lucid Living, a yoga and health center, at 300 E. Grace St. in the Arts District.
