One of the Richmond area’s largest home showcases returns this month, and this year, a rooftop terrace is adding to the mix.
The 66th annual Parade of Homes, presented by the Home Building Association of Richmond, kicks off this weekend and continues each weekend throughout October.
Featuring 91 new homes built by 35 association members, the event presents the latest homebuilding trends and designs at prices ranging from $180,000 to over $1.1 million.
Homes in this year’s showcase are located throughout the Greater Richmond area, including the city and Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, King William, New Kent and Powhatan counties.
Among the trends on display is something new to the showcase this year: a covered rooftop terrace atop a 3,500-square-foot, three-level townhome in Eagle Construction of VA’s GreenGate development.
Another home, at The Emerson Cos.’ Lake Margaret at The Highlands, a 55-and-up community in Chesterfield, displays a single-level living design with a grandchildren’s suite and incorporating lake views.
“Our builders are listening to customers and tweaking their designs to deliver the kinds of lifestyles they’re looking for,” said Danna Markland, HBAR’s recently installed new CEO. “It’s put together to showcase all the innovation that is out there this year.”
The event includes awards presented to builders in various categories and price points. Winners are selected by out-of-town judges and were slated to be announced at an awards breakfast today.
House tours are self-guided and free to the public. Hours are from noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 7-8, 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29. A browsable map and additional information is available on the event’s website and in the Parade of Homes magazine, available at area Kroger, Food Lion and Wawa locations, and at HBAR’s headquarters at 400 N. Ridge Road in western Henrico.
