After going dark in December, a West Broad Village pub space is set to come back to life.

Park Lane Tavern, a regional chain with locations in Hampton Roads and Fredericksburg, is opening its first Richmond-area outpost in the former Keagan’s Restaurant & Tavern storefront at 2251 Old Brick Road.

Keagan’s, which operated with an Irish theme, closed after nearly 10 years of business in the 8,000-square-foot space.

Co-owners Greg Knox and Jeff Anderson established Park Lane in 2005, and it has three locations in Virginia: Peninsula Town Center in Hampton, the Spotsylvania Towne Center near Fredericksburg and a stand-alone outpost in Virginia Beach.

Knox and Anderson were traveling and unavailable for comment.

While hours of operations for the Short Pump location have not been released, Park Lane typically is open for lunch and dinner service seven days a week. It also serves brunch on Sunday.

Peter Vick and Harrison Hall, brokers with Divaris Real Estate Inc. | Richmond, represented the landlord during the lease transaction. Christopher Rouzie with Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer’s Hampton Roads division represented Park Lane.

Blending Old World European dishes with traditional American flavors, Park Lane offers a variety of pizzas, sandwiches, salads, soups, and small- and large-plate cuisines.

One signature dish is German-inspired Jagerschnitzel — a hand-flattened pork loin fried and topped with onion and mushroom gravy. Another is Shepherd’s Pie made with either lamb or ground beef, its house-made bordelaise and chive whipped potatoes, peas, carrots and parmesan bread crumbs.

Park Lane also offers a large beer menu, serving a variety of beers through its “Beverage Bible” — a selection of 24 beers on tap, along with several bottled ones from around the world, according to its website. It also plans to serve up specialty cocktails, malt scotches, bourbons and wines.

The tavern follows another chain into West Broad Village, as Cinnaholic, a Georgia-based brand that specializes in cinnamon rolls, signed on for a storefront last fall.

Keagan’s closure preceded the departure of another restaurant in the mixed-use neighborhood, as Ledo Pizza & Pasta closed last month. Duck Donuts closed its store in 2018 after two years of business, and Halligan Bar & Grill closed in 2017.

The pending arrival of Park Lane also comes as the bulk of West Broad Village is up for sale.
