A local tech company founder’s move around town accounted for two of the area’s top three home sales last month, separated by an off-market condo sale in the Libbie and Grove area.
Snagajob founder Shawn Boyer snagged the No. 1 and No. 3 highest-priced deals in December with his and wife Tennille’s recent move from The Federal Club in Hanover to Rivergate in Goochland.
The Hanover home they sold at 14854 Elliot Ridge Way came out on top at $2.5 million, with Joyner Fine Properties’ Betsy Dotterer handling the listing. The buyer was Mission Realty head Clayton Gits and his wife Stephanie, who purchased the 9,000-square-foot, ski lodge-like home on Dec. 2.
The next day, the Boyers closed on their new home at 445 Rivergate Drive, paying $2.1 million for the 11,000-square-foot house overlooking Rivergate Lake. Joyner’s Ellen Hewit represented the Boyers, while Debbie Gibbs with The Steele Group | Sotheby’s International Realty represented the sellers, listed in property records as Rupika and Sahil Tak.
Sahil Tak owns ST Tissue and ST Paper, tissue paper mills located in southeastern Virginia and in Wisconsin, respectively. Gibbs said she didn’t know if the Taks are staying in the region or relocating.
Listed last February at $2.39 million, the Rivergate house includes four bedrooms, five bathrooms and two half-baths, along with an indoor pool, theater room and tennis court on 2.8 acres. The listing was taken off-market in March – a decision Gibbs said was due to the pandemic – and relisted in May before going under contract in late August.
Gibbs said she received interest from several prospective buyers before the Boyers put the house under contract. Shawn Boyer, who parted ways with Snagajob in 2015, now runs GoHappy Hub, a Richmond-based software company he started the following year.
Coming in at No. 2 last month was 5702 Grove Ave. Unit 300, the largest of three new top-floor condos in the Westhampton on Grove development. The nearly 4,300-square-foot unit with 1,100 square feet of balcony patio space sold Dec. 22 in an off-market deal for about $2.35 million. Scott Garnett with One South Realty Group represented the buyer, whose name was not disclosed.
Rounding out the top five sales for December, according to the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service:
- • 4101 Sulgrave Road, Windsor Farms, Richmond – $1.99 million. Listing agent: Nancy Cheely, Joyner; buyer’s agent: Philip Innes, Re/Max Commonwealth.
- • 853 Elmslie Lane, Kinloch, Goochland – $1.64 million. Listing and buyer’s agent: Sue Farrell, Joyner.
