A local hardware store brand has hammered out an expansion into New Kent County.
Pleasants Hardware expects to open a new store near Bottoms Bridge in October. It will be Pleasants’ first outpost in the county and its ninth location in the Richmond region.
The store will lease the entirety of a 7,000-square-foot building at 2733 New Kent Highway, replacing current tenants NAPA Auto Parts and Source Auto and Hardware Supply.
The store is expected to have 10 employees.
The upcoming Pleasants is the chain’s second new store since it was bought by Virginia Beach-based Taylor’s Do it Center in 2016. Taylor’s has maintained the longtime Pleasants brand for its Richmond-area locations.
The first post-acquisition Pleasants opened in Hanover County in March 2020, a company spokeswoman said.
Taylor’s also announced plans to open a new Do it Center in Gloucester County in November.
