Naborforce is moving to a new neighborhood.
The Richmond-based startup has leased space for a new headquarters in Scott’s Addition and is in the process of vacating its current home base at 2308 W. Main St. in the Fan.
Founder Paige Wilson said Naborforce outgrew its 2,000-square-foot building on Main and is subleasing 6,000 square feet in The Spur at 3015 W. Moore St.
Wilson officially got the keys to the new office June 1. The startup will move all of its equipment and operations there this Friday.
Naborforce, a freelance service similar to Uber and TaskRabbit, connects elderly people with contractors (or “nabors,” as the company calls them) who can provide household assistance and companionship.
Besides simply outgrowing the old office, Wilson said she wanted a space that is more centralized and open for in-person work. The company employs about 25 people, 14 of whom work out of the Richmond office.
“We’re a company that’s built on in-person connections,” Wilson said. “We believe very strongly in an in-person office culture.”
The move is also driven by the company’s growth plans.
The goal is to have 20 to 25 people working in person out of the Moore Street office by the end of the year and to have 45 total employees by early 2024.
Wilson founded Naborforce in 2018, driven by her own experience caring for her mother. Naborforce operated out of Startup Virginia in Shockoe Bottom for 15 months before moving to the Fan. Wilson worked as an investment banker before starting the company.
Wilson said Naborforce spent six to eight months searching for a new home and considered other areas around The Diamond and Libbie Mill. The company was represented by local real estate brokerage 7 Hills Advisors.
Naborforce is subleasing the space from WealthForge, a local broker-dealer that continues to have a presence in the building. Thalhimer’s Brian Berkey and Karla Knight represented WealthForge in the sublease.
Wilson didn’t disclose the lease rates for its Scott’s Addition space but said Naborforce isn’t paying any more for its new office than its old one.
Other tenants in The Spur include law firm Roth Jackson, construction company Whiting-Turner, private equity firm Blue Heron Capital and engineering firm Lynch Mykins.
Jason Guillot and Justin Paley opened The Spur in 2019, in a redevelopment of the former the 35,000-square-foot Phipps & Bird manufacturing facility at 3015 W. Moore St. and 1519 Summit Ave.

This is a brilliant business-knowing contractors and vendors have been vetted ahead of time! So many older people or seniors have no idea where to turn and are taken advantage of more now than ever before! It’s awful.
