A sweets shop and women’s clothing store have set their sights on Short Pump Town Center.
Kilwins, a franchised chain that sells ice cream as well as chocolate and fudge, is planning to open a location at the mall, adding to a growing presence in the region. It will be joined by Evereve, which will be opening its first store in the Richmond region.
The Kilwins is going into a ground-floor space between Athleta and clothing store Dry Goods, which recently opened, near the mall’s Dick’s Sporting Goods store, according to a permit recently filed with Henrico County.
The confections store has been expanding its footprint elsewhere in the region of late. Another Kilwins is slated to open at The Lake, a large mixed-use development under construction in Chesterfield County. The brand currently operates a Carytown shop, which opened in 2018.
It wasn’t clear when the upcoming Short Pump location of Kilwins is expected to open, or which franchisee is behind the new location. The company didn’t respond to requests for comment Monday.
The space where Kilwins is preparing to open was formerly home to an outpost of juice bar The Pit & The Peel, which closed its Short Pump location last year.
Michigan-based Kilwins was founded in 1947 and lists more than 170 locations in multiple states on its website. The chain is owned by private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners, which has also invested in Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Elsewhere on the mall’s first level, women’s clothing store Evereve is slated to open this month in the space formerly occupied by Peloton between Kate Spade and Tumi, according to signage at the space. The storefront, which is near Dillard’s, appeared to still be undergoing renovations on Monday morning. Evereve didn’t respond to requests for further comment.
The retailer sells a wide range of women’s clothing, including dresses and tops in addition to jeans, blazers, leggings, shoes and other items.
Evereve states on its website that it has more than 100 stores. The Minnesota-based company opened its first location in 2004. It has one other Virginia location in the works in Northern Virginia, according to media reports.

Wandered around SPTC last weekend. Lots of hustle and bustle, plenty of people of all ages browsing and shopping. Wish they could fill the space left by Nordstroms.
