Local augmented reality startup ARtGlass closed on a $1.3 million capital raise. ARtGlass received angel funding from five Virginia-based groups including local firms Central Virginia Angels and Trolley Venture Partners.

SNP Properties announced three new restaurant concepts for some of its properties along Broad Street. Opening between Feb. and May 2019 will be a Mexican restaurant at 11 W. Broad Street, Switch Pop-Up Bar at 13 W. Broad, and Nama, an Indian street food restaurant at 15 W. Broad.

Publix announced it will open a Mechanicsville store at 6603 Mechanicsville Turnpike on Jan. 5.

Essex Bank opened a branch in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Essex Bank now operates 26 branches throughout Virginia and Maryland.

University of Richmond law professor Julie McConnell was named the 2018 Woman of Achievement by the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association.
The Richmond Association of Realtors held its annual Installation Reception and Awards Ceremony at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, where it recognized six local realtors including Dieanne Long, Libby Gatewood and David Hamil of Napier Realtors ERA, John O’Reilly and Shannon Warren of BHG Base Camp and Dial Love of Joyner Fine Properties.
The Dominion Energy Charity Classic, a golf tournament held annually at The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course, was awarded the PGA TOUR Champions Sales Award.
Ndp executive vice president Ken Wayland was named the Hampton Roads Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year.

RVA Developer Association donated over $11,000 that it raised at its 2018 RVA JavaScript Conference to CodeVA and the Richmond Chapter of Women Who Code.
Bon Secours Richmond Health System and Virginia Local Initiatives Support Corporation awarded its Supporting East End Entrepreneurship Development grant awards totaling $110,000 to seven East End businesses.
Draper Aden Associates and the American Heart Association donated sporting equipment to Montrose, Fair Oaks, Highland Springs, and Harvie Elementary Schools in Henrico County.
Timmy Nguyen won Virginia Lottery’s inaugural “Made in Virginia” program. As a winner, Nguyen was able to gift $9,000 in prizes to Skipwith Elementary School.
