Iceland has it worse

As bad as things are starting to get here, Iceland has it worse.

The small country’s government took over its major banks, and the currency has all but stopped trading internationally.

In this fascinating post , a blogger from the Island nation says that, “It’s like we know the system is broken, we know it’s gone, but we can’t see it. We can’t tell what’s real, what’s still there, and what are just the ghosts of yesterday, when Iceland was one of the richest countries in the world. A pale reflection of the golden age in Icelandic economy which is now going up in flames. Where’s the smoke?”

From my conversations with dozens of Richmond business owners and sales folks in the last week, I’m sensing a somewhat similar uncertainty about how to feel. People are trying to be strong — trying to keep a stiff upper lip — but they know they’re not hitting their sales quotas and that if things don’t turn around soon, well. Let’s hope they do.
