Move over, apples: An app a day keeps the doctor away.
At least that’s the concept behind Florida-based U.S. Preventive Medicine, whose CEO will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Greater Richmond’s Companies to Watch event hosted by the Venture Forum.
Christopher Fey is the founder and top executive of the company, which has developed an online-based health-care service called the Prevention Plan. Users provide information on their health history and are provided with an individualized plan to stay healthy and track their results. The company is poised to launch a mobile app called Macaw as part of its program.
U.S. Preventive Medicine has raised more than $65 million dollars from individual investors. Fey will share the different ways he raised capital to pursue his big idea.
The Venture Forum event will be Nov. 10 at the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing. In addition to the speaker, the forum will reveal its list of startups to watch in 2012.
