A 190,000-square-foot, 406-bedroom student housing complex is well underway in Carver.
It is developer Gilbane’s second student housing project in Richmond, the first being the 540-bedroom 8 1/2 Canal.
The project was held up for months while residents of Carver objected to the scope of the development. The special use permit was approved in November after the developer scaled the building back from five to four stories.
The $31-million project should be finished in time to receive students in the 2013 school year.
