Food truck fanaticism has spread to Short Pump.
RVA Street Foodies, a network of local food vendors, on Thursday will expand its food truck rally model to Shady Grove United Methodist Church at 4825 Pouncy Tract Road.
The church will be RVA Foodies’ sixth regular gathering location and its first in the Short Pump area. The group launched in April.
It has 26 vendors that participate in its “food truck courts,” which are also held at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, the Virginia Historical Society, Chesterfield Town Center, All Saints Church in the West End and Center of the Universe Brewing in Ashland.
Barb Upchurch, a spokesperson for RVA Street Foodies, said that the organization doesn’t have specific plans for more locations but that it wants to keep its vendors busy.
“It’s absolutely growing in leaps and bounds, because it’s a much more affordable way for food entrepreneurs to start a business,” she said.
The food truck court at Shady Grove will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bodillaz, Gelati Celesti, Goatocado, Grate Pizza, Habanero Grill, Haywood Grill, Meatball Company, P&T Kitchen, Paris Creperie, Slideways Mobile Bistro and Soul Ice will be on hand.
After the first two dates at Shady Grove – June 27 and July 11 – the church will decide whether to hold the court weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, Upchurch said.
